On this week’s episode of Artistic Expressions, Editor-in-Chief, Rin Ryu sits down with senior Rida Zaki about her bullet journaling hobby. Pictured: One of Zaki’s weekly pages.

Grade: senior

Wingspan: When did you start bullet journaling?

Zaki: “I started bullet journaling this past year, but I have been interested in it for a long time, I just never got the opportunity to get a good quality journal.”

Wingspan: Why did you start bullet journaling?

Zaki: “I started bullet journaling because it is therapeutic and gives me a creative outlet.”

Wingspan: What is your favorite part of bullet journaling? 

Zaki: “My favorite part of bullet journaling is decorating the pages with stickers. I also think it’s cool that I will be able to look back on these pages and read about my life.”

Wingspan: How do you plan out your pages?

Zaki: “Usually I start with picking one or two colors to work with and find matching stickers and papers to match the color theme. Then I usually use washi tape or glue to put it all together.”

Wingspan: Where do you get your inspiration for each page from?

Zaki: “My inspiration comes from random things usually its a random color I think of or I go on Pinterest to see what other people have done.”

Wingspan: What usually goes into a page?

Zaki: “I usually a lot of pictures and words. I usually write little paragraphs about my day and I also try to match it with album covers or music that I like.”
