Years of Experience: seven years

Wingspan: When and why did you join band?
Raj: “I joined band in sixth grade because on TV there’s a show called Bunk’d and one of the characters said they really wanted to play the clarinet, so I chose the clarinet.”
Wingspan: What do you enjoy the most about playing the clarinet and being a part of that section?
Raj: “Playing the clarinet is great, I like it because it’s a great instrument to really express yourself and experiment with. It’s also like a family to be in the clarinets and the people around you are really sweet and talented. We even won Section of the Week!”
Wingspan: Could you describe the role and duties of the Vice President of Administration?
Raj: “The duties of the VP of Administration are to just convey information given by the band director, try and keep the band leadership team together and on a united front.”
Wingspan: What has been your proudest or favorite moment in band?
Raj: “It’s probably whenever we get to Area Finals. It’s our last competition, hopefully it’s not our last, but since it is whenever we get to finals it’s really emotional, and all our hard work can come to fruition.”
Wingspan: What advice would you give to someone who is considering joining band?
Raj: “Do it! It’ll be great for you! If you’re a shy person, by the end of it, you’ll become really outgoing. You’ll have a bunch of people supporting you and it’s a great outlet for creativity.”
Wingspan: What’s something the audience never sees but is a big part of being in band?
Raj: “The audience never sees the practice that we do. It’s hours and hours of practice, individual and in groups. It’s the socials that we do. It’s outside of band, just the clarinets or just the leadership team will go out and we’ll have some fun so that we can stay pepped and energized.”
