Have you ever wished to instantly teleport to another country?
Well, if Mexico is on your bucket list, you’re in luck. There is a simple way to travel into the world of Spanish culture and tantalizing Mexican cuisine at Anasofia’s Mexican Grill in Allen.
At a glance, the festive ambiance of this restaurant is very noticeable. Outside, you will find eye-catching string lights that instantly set the mood. Inside, the crisp white tablecloth and exquisite black chairs feel sophisticated and fancy. There is also a full bar and open kitchen.
First up was Chili con Queso. It is melted Jack cheese (queso) and serrano peppers. The cheese was warm and creamy, and the chili gave it a bit of a kick. It paired very well with the salty and airy tortilla chips that were provided.
From there it was on to the main dishes.
The quesadilla was one of them, consisting of cheese inside of a tortilla. It came with many sides (like guacamole, sour cream, and tomatoes). The sour cream was cold and fresh, contrasting with the piping hot yet flavorful quesadilla. All in all, it was a great meal.
Then, one taste of the shrimp ala diabla confirmed that it was spicy—about a 7 out of 10 in terms of heat. It was spicy, but scrumptious. The impressive plate consisted of cilantro rice mounted in the middle, with shrimp spiraling around it. There was also saucy cucumber, carrots, etc. that added a crunch in every bite.
After that, the Gabriel was tried, which is actually a type of chicken enchilada. It had lots of shredded chicken (seasoned lightly) inside, and was covered with yet another tortilla and spinach. Then, the entire plate was covered with a yummy cream sauce. It was overall a great combo, and it came with rice and beans as well.
Lastly, the chicken fajitas came out on a sizzling dish, filling the room with a savory scent. They were the most versatile, as you can essentially make your own fajita tacos with them. Just put the smoky chicken inside of the tortillas provided, and customize the other toppings to your liking. Mix and match between salsa, guacamole, sour cream, beans, rice, vegetables, and more.
However, that is not all. A desert was ordered as well.
The tres leches cake was honestly a highlight. It was so milky and moist, bursting with vanilla and raspberry tones. It was also presented beautifully—the big slice was on a long plate artfully splashed with raspberry sauce. It was purely delicious.
At the end of the day, Anasofia’s Mexican Grill deserves five stars—not just for their food, but for their hospitality.
