The Redhawks football team will face off against some new district opponents in the fall as the UIL announced its new district alignment for 2026-28 on Monday.

District rivals next year are Centennial, Heritage, Lebanon Trail, Lone Star, Reedy, McKinney North, and Melissa.

“That’s the first thing that comes to mind, not having to travel so much; that weighs on the athletes,” assistant football coach Andre Brown said. “Playing more of the Frisco schools would make it easier on the kids. Obviously, there’s a lot of competition around here. We still have Melissa there, along with Lone Star and Reedy. It would be a big challenge, but that’s a big reason why I came here: the opportunity to play with big-time players and big-time teams, beautiful stadiums, this coaching staff—I respect them. We have never run from challenges. The kids are excited about it too, so I think it’s a good opportunity.”

Among those that are excited is sophomore Myles McLain who is looking forward to playing more Frisco ISD schools.

“I think the realignment is a good thing for all Frisco schools because it’s more familiar, and you’re playing with people you know and people you see all the time just around the city,” McLain said. “It’s just a lot of Frisco schools and people you grew up with. I think it’s also good that we have Melissa and McKinney North. It’s a good variation to see what other cities and other schools bring to the table. It’s a good mixture of schools and not just one city.”
