The 2019 Winter Extravaganza raised more than $14,000 and on Tuesday, March 3, 2020, several fine arts students presented a checked for that amount to representatives of the Dallas Education Foundation. The donation will help fund the replacement and repair of fine arts equipment destroyed or damaged by the tornado that tore through parts of Dallas on October 20, 2019.

AP Environmental Science students partner up as part of an engaging activity about the atmosphere.

As part of AP Environmental Science classes this week, students got the opportunity to leave the classroom and participate in an interactive activity to learn about the atmosphere.

Students in Mr. Sabatier's AP Environmental Science get involved in an ozone layer interactive lesson outside of the classroom.

Students in statistics classes are playing wiffle ball to wrap up their probability unit. "Playing the game and doing projects like this does make stats a lot more interesting, it makes it a lot easier for me to understand and learn concepts when I'm able to apply real life situations in the classroom and be able to call back to the example it sets for me compared to just learning it traditionally," senior Sidney Hayes said.

For this specific assignment, students learned about how new technology can impact agriculture and the role of women in agriculture.

Freshman William Zhang and the rest of the students in the AP Human Geography class spent Wednesday and Thursday creating paper doll chains. The arts and craft project saw students cut out the dolls and then write facts about women in agriculture on them.

The first step in the project for freshman Adam Walker was to cut out a paper doll chain. From there, the students had to write facts about the role of women in agriculture on the paper doll chains.

As band begins preparation for marching season, directors have hosted a visual camp for incoming freshman in order to prepare them for next year's marching season. However, with the continuation of COVID-19, band directors have had to make a few adaptations this year in order to help incoming freshman.

The new parking lot located behind the field house is available for student use.

In order for student drivers to park on campus during the school year, they are required to have a parking permit. Permits for the full year cost $50, and the permit application can be found onlineschoolfees.com.

High PSAT scores resulted in eight seniors on campus being named a National Hispanic Scholar title by the National Hispanic Recognition Program. To qualify, students must take the PSAT in October of their junior year, hold at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA by the middle of their junior year, be at least 25 percent Hispanic or Latino descent, and receive the minimum required PSAT/NMSQT cutoff score as set yearly by the College Board.

A new and unusual addition campus, a five month old corn snake named Snapey Snake is now in the library. Students can now check out books, along with the new reptilian pet during Friday feeding sessions in advisory.
