WTV staff reporter Kennedy Williams discusses the importance of the Mississippi Senate race.

Kennedy is a senior who’s starting her final year of broadcast journalism. She plans to become an anesthesiologist and continue to drum as a side hustle. In addition to Wingspan, Kennedy is the NHS Chapter President and drumline captain of the band. She believes that she may have been born into the wrong time period, and she has yet to find one person on campus that has a music taste remotely similar to hers. This year, Kennedy’s making a pledge to herself to go as stress free as possible and live in the moment…hopefully without senioritis kicking in.

Band students are transitioning from an ensemble setting to an individual setting with sectionals. Students will be improving their skills for the upcoming UIL Solo and Ensemble Contest on Feb. 25.

As jazz band auditions approach, the process will look different this year due to COVID-19. Rather than playing in front of directors, students will submit a video of their work. “I think it’s good that they are still doing auditions because there is the saying that the show must go on and though it may happen virtually, it’s good that they are continuing and letting us continue our passion," senior Aadit Chadbury said.
